2005 Fürst Löwenstein, Silvaner “Asphodill”,Franconia
WOW, a breathtaking Silvaner! Gold-yellow colour and very shy bouquet. Pears, flint, camomile and almonds. Very pure, precise and elegant composition. Of course, this wine is too young at the moment, but in 3-5 years it will be a masterpiece of the grape Silvaner.
This Silvaner Spätlese trocken GG comes from the famous vineyard Homburger Kallmuth which is like an amphitheater based on shell limestone and new red sandstone. In addition very special microclimate and you find there a rare lily species called “Asphodill”. Here is a photo of the vineyard:
