Pfalz 06 - Tasting
Pfalz 06 - Tasting
In Berlin several prestigious winemakers A. Christmann, G. Mosbacher and Knipser from the region Pfalz presented their wines in the famous wineshop Wein&Glas and gave us a first glimpse from the vintage 2006.
Unfortunately, these presented 06 wines were not an encouragement in buying wines from that region in 06. But you have to know that the winemakers had to cope with a lot of weather problems, for example hail in July, hot temperature and heavy rain in september especially in south Pfalz. For example Knipser achieved only 10% of a normal Riesling-harvest and therefore no GG will be produced in 2006. G. Mosbacher will also only release 1 GG. Müller-Catoir also no GG in that vintage. Only A. Christmann had a little bit better weather conditions and his wines showed a touch better. More info to this topic in my podcasts.
Thankfully, the wineshop Wein&Glas presented some older vintages from the winemakers, so we had to chance to taste some terrific Riesling and the winemakers could demonstrate their abilities.
