2003 Château Belá, Riesling, Slovakia
2003 Château Belá, Riesling, Slovakia
Chateau Belá is an ancient property of the Baron Ullmann situated in south Slovakia on the banks of Danube River. Chateau Belá is a joint venture between the family of the Baron Ullmann and Egon Müller. The first vintage was released in 2001.
Diffuse bold flavors of apple, lime, orange-peel, nut, wax and a hint of minerality. I miss finesse and playful elegance for what Egon Müller is famous for. Totally shaky structure and a clear red line isn´t noticable. What a pitty, I really enjoyed the vintage 2002 at release. I should have known it better! It´s a widespreaded wisdom, don´t buy 2003 Riesling with the exception of some Rieslings from the region Nahe and Rheingau.
