I never thought that 05 could outperform the wonderful 04 Saar Riesling "Alte Reben", but it is so. This 05 is a class of its own. What a hedonistic nose! Such opulent notes of a compote of stonefruits which continues on the palate together with dense,oriental flavors of dried fruits with cinnamon. The power,length and depth of this wine knocks you out. This wine is a little bit like a liquid "canard a l´orange". BTW, at the moment the minerality is overshadowed by the rich fruit flavors, but in 3 years the wine will gain more complexity by the minerality. Buy as many bottles you could get, as this Riesling is seductive like the tales of 1001 Nights.......
