2002 Leitz, Spätlese "Berg Rottland", Rheingau, Germany
Excellent elegant nose! Very, very subtle notes of blossoms such as jasmine which is typical for Rheingau, combined with an opulent peach-nose. This is definitely a Wachau/Smaragd-style of Riesling with a touch of Boytritis and flavors of honey, hay, blossoms, nuts and herbs.
Terrific creamy coat due to the boytritis which gives this Riesling its outstanding character. Furthermore a wonderful subtle minerality which keeps in balance the rich flavors.
If I had to choose some wines for a perfect diner, I would choose this Riesling Spätlese together with a bottle of Champagne and a 98 Angelus.........
this Riesling produces miracles in your mouth.
